Welcome in Dark Hearts!

Dark Heart Studios is the home of all Wolfie & Moony cosplays, make-up, & art! We were inspired to share our work after winning the Horror SFX Make-Up competition at Crypticon MN 2021. After a year of prep, we launched our studio! On June 12, 2023, we were thrilled to launch Nerd Network News, aka NNN!

We report on: comics & manga, gaming, DND, anime, cosplay, cons, & everything in between!

Our segments Monday - Friday, with full video versions being posted to Youtube.

We are now two-time Novice catagory SFX Make-Up competition winners! We performed a live make-up demo at Twin Cities Con 2022, turning Moony into Gollum from LOTR. We also performed in the Cosplay Masquerade during Anime Detour 2023 - our performance is the thumbnail photo for the Cosplay Masquerade on Youtube! Just search 'Anime Detour 2023' and our Moxxie & Millie cosplays pop up!

Wolfie learned to sew from her mom, the Sew-Kage of the Hidden Stitch. She ran away with a traveling theater troupe in her teens as their main seamstress and taught Wolfie everything she knows about sewing!

We didn't have much income to spare when I was growing up. My mom would take us to the store and have me take notes on what clothes I liked. If it wasn't a thrift store find, I was sewing it for myself!  I learned how to make my own patterns back then, and it has come in handy!

Halloween was always my favorite time of year growing up. I would watch 'behind the scenes' features on DVD's and do my best to replicate the process in my kitchen. My first successful SFX make-up was making zombie bites by mixing oatmeal, instant tapioca, and blueberry syrup. I made a gallon of fake blood with tapioca and red food dye - it looked GROSS!

I've been able to combine my homemade horror make up with Mehron & Ben Nye professional make up to make truly twisted character designs! Now I am so excited to share my work with all of you!

Moony got his start on Twitch doing gaming streams. He focussed on building his brand, his persona, and building relationships with his viewers. When we teamed up he was able to build our social media & teach Wolfie how to use all this technology!

When Wolfie suggested we make our own costumes for Crypticon, I was skeptical, as I had never sewn before. She asked me to be her model in the Crypticon Horror SFX Make-Up Competition and I didn't know what to expect, but it sounded fun!

Turns out, I'm pretty good at sewing too! Wolfie taught me how and now I've got my own sewing machine and sewed my own suit for my Moxxie cosplay!

I love the communication side of the business. I keep our social media end thriving! I am a gamer, I especially enjoy horror and world building games.

I look forward to bringing these games to life with our cosplays!
